Ushers
Ushers are called to provide
a very special service in their exercise of a liturgical ministry.
Our ministry is striving to
improve the quality of Sunday worship - to be welcomed by a smile and an
extended hand is a great beginning.
The church is people, the
Spirit works through them with their attitudes, feelings and posture.
Most especially, the Spirit
works through those who minister to the congregation in a special role, such as
ushering.
Please offer to join us in
this Ministry at St. Joseph's - High School and College students are most welcome.
This is an ideal
opportunity for High School and College students to earn community education
credits and generate future character references.
Call the Church Office
547-5004 and leave your name and preferred times to serve with us.
Eucharistic Ministers
The role of the Eucharistic
Minister is to assist the Priest in distributing Communion to the worshipping
community.
At a recent meeting of the
Eucharistic Ministers at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, each felt privileged and
graced to distribute Communion to our Parish Community. This involvement led to
a deepening of their own spirituality.
At present we have forty
Eucharistic members at St. Joseph's Parish and could use more.
Perhaps there are other
Adults who would wish to share in the Ministry.
If so, please call the Church
Office - 547-5004 - and leave your name.
Lectors
The Ministry of Lector is a
key liturgical ministry.
It is their role together
with the Priest and Deacon to make the word come alive by proclaiming the word
to those who have gathered to celebrate the Eucharist.
The skills of this ministry
combine those required of all public speakers along with some skills unique to
participation in a liturgical event.
We welcome both High School
and College students and adult community members as Lectors.
This is an ideal
opportunity for High School and College students to earn community education
credits and generate future character references.
Please call the Church Office
- 547-5004 - and leave your name.
Altar Servers
The Parish Council has recommended unanimously that girls, as well as
boys, be encouraged to be Altar Servers here at St.Joseph's.
This change was implemented on the First Sunday of Advent , 2004.
It is important to emphasize that, while this represents a change here at St.
Joseph's, this practise is very common
elsewhere.
The changes are totally consistent with magisterial teaching and introduced
with the full approval of the local Archdiocesan Church.
All boys and girls who are interested in serving are invited to phone the
Church Office and speak to Father Dale Wright..
