Introduction

 

We are called with the apostles to witness that the Christ has suffered and on the third day risen from the dead, and in his name to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins to all the nations.

First Reading: Acts 3:13-15, 17-19

 

God said through all the prophets that the Christ would suffer.

 

Second Reading: 1 John 2:1-5

 

If anyone should sin, we have our advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, who is just.

 

Gospel: Luke 24:35-48

 

It was written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise  from the dead.

Automatic Debit is available for those St. Joseph’s parishioners wishing to have their Sunday Offering and/or Building Fund Collection debited directly from their bank account on a monthly basis. Those who wish to begin Automatic Debit are asked to visit the parish office to complete the necessary paperwork.

 

OUR PARISH

 

CONVERSION SERIES will be held on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., and repeated at 7:00 p.m., on 19, 26 April, and 3 May 2018, in the parish hall.  “Conversion: Following the Call of Christ,” will consist of four sessions: Introduction, The Woman at the Well, The Rich Young Man and Matthew.  We will show a short video, followed by discussion.  Come join us.

SPIRITUAL INQUIRY The next session of the Spiritual Inquiry will be held on Wednesday, 25 April 2018, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., in the parish hall.  As in the past, it is an excellent opportunity to discuss our Catholic Faith, religious practices and spiritual belief.  With no prescribed agenda, topics have been quite varied and thought-provoking in past sessions.  In a relaxed, accepting environment, participants have the opportunity to express their thoughts, raise questions or simply listen to the responses of others in attendance.  Coffee/tea will be offered.

 

CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE is celebrating the Feast of our Patroness, Our Lady of Good Counsel, on 26 April 2018.  Please join us for Mass at 5:15 p.m.  After mass we will meet for dinner (at own cost) at 6:00 p.m., at Ramekins, 1540 Bath Road.  Please call Mary Clancy at 613-544-4190 if you plan to attend, and indicate if you need a ride.

Members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League will be providing snacks for  Hospitality Sunday after Masses on 29 April 2018; please start thinking about what goodies you can bring and please drop off prior to Mass.

 

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place on Sunday, 29 April 2018, after the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses.  The gracious hosts will be the St. Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League.  Please join us in the parish hall for fellowship and refreshments.

 

SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE St. Joseph’s Social & Ecological Justice Committee will meet on Wednesday, 2 May 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the sacristy.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

FANCY HAT TEA PARTY St. Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League will be hosting the annual Fancy Hat Tea Party on Saturday, 12 May 2108, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., in the parish hall.  Advance tickets only, may be picked-up at the Parish Office, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:00-4:30 p.m., or at church entrances on 5-6 May.  Prizes will be given for Most Elegant, Most Creative and Most Colourful hats.  There will be a Silent Auction, and Door Prizes will be given out throughout the afternoon.  Tickets are $15.00.  Don’t miss out on this fun event.

GOSPEL SINGING On Sunday, 15 April 2018, at 6:00 p.m., St. Barnaby Church, Brewers Mills, will host gospel singers, Rev. Patsy Schmidt, Joe Saunders, Mark & Sharon Alton and Ruth & Gord Griffin.  A free-will offering would be appreciated.

 

 

NEW LIFE COURSE Come experience the Love of God in a unique and personal way.  The St. Andrew School of Evangelization course begins on Friday, 20 April 2018, and continues until Sunday, 22 April 2018, at Holy Rosary Church, Belleville.  The cost is $40.00, which includes three meals and snacks.  For information, contact Ruth Terry at 61-661-2498, or at terry@alcdsb.on.ca.

 

DAY OF REFLECTION “Who is God? Who are we?”  This day of reflection, on Monday, 23 April, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., will explore through prayer, reflections and sharing our images of God, how that shapes our thinking and responses to life situations and creates our unique identity.  Facilitator is Deacon Bill Gervais.  Call Providence Spirituality Centre at 613-542-8826, to register by Monday, 16 April.  Cost is $25.00.

 

CAMPAIGN LIFE COALITION KINGSTON MEETING will take place on Tuesday, 24 April 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, main meeting room, 1111 Taylor-Kidd Boulevard, Kingston, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  Please join us.

 

SEPARATED AND/OR DIVORCED Are you, or is someone you know, experiencing the trauma of a Separation and/or Divorce?  Come to the New Life Group Meeting, a Catholic Ministry for the Separated and Divorced on alternate Tuesday evenings.  The next meeting will take place Tuesday, 24April 2018, at the Francis J. Spence Pastoral Centre, 390 Palace Road.

 

SPRING SENIORS CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY SERIES “Everything Belongs,” on Thursday, 3 and 17 May 2018, from 9:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m., with facilitator, Denise Bérubé, CND.  The season of Spring always beckons creation to new life, a bit at a time, until it reaches a certain completion.  Everything belongs to, and adds to, the rich panorama of God’s creation.  How is it so in our lives at Christians?  What do we notice in the springtime of our lives?  What does it mean for us to “grow into belonging” to the whole of God’s creation?  Senior or not – if you’d like to come, you’re welcome!  Call to register at Providence Spirituality Centre, at 613-542-8826, by 19 April 2018, for meal count.  Cost is $20.00/session and includes lunch.

 

STEUBENVILLE TORONTO Calling all teens in Grades 8‑12! Join over 1500 youth from across Ontario in attending an amazing high school youth conference, on 13-15 July 2018. FOUNDATIONS IN PARISH NURSING PROGRAM  hosted by the Institute for Ongoing Formation at St. Peter’s Seminary: FOUNDATIONS IN PARISH NURSING ‑ Summer Residency Program from July 8 – 14, 2018, at Brescia University College in London, Ontario.
