The child in my womb leapt for joy.

Introduction

Our salvation is near, he comes to meet us. Are we ready to greet him, to leap with joy at the sound of his coming?

OUR PARISH

MEDIA RESOURCES Would you like to grow in your understanding of the Catholic faith? We are happy to announce that we now have Catholic Lighthouse Media resources available in the St. Joseph Room. These books and audio CDs, by some of the most well known and engaging Catholic writers and speakers in the world today, cover many different topics of interest. Stop in to pick up something that interests you or that would make a good gift for someone else. If you’ve enjoyed the resource, be sure to share it with others! To help cover some of the expenses, the suggested donation for books and CDs is $5.00 each, while pamphlets are free.

2016 ENVELOPES are available for pick-up at the back of the church. If you are currently not using envelopes but wish to do so, please contact the parish office at 613-547-5004 to request them, or complete the sign-up sheet on the table beside the envelopes. Once the New Year arrives, please do not use the previous years envelopes as the number may be different. Thank you.

2015 DONATIONS St. Joseph’s Parish Year-End occurs on 31 December; therefore, we ask that all 2015 donations to the parish be received by the parish office by 31 December 2015. Donations received after this date will need to be recorded in 2016. If you wish to have a donation appear on your 2015 Tax Receipt, please ensure that the office has received it prior to 1 January. Thank you.

CHRISTMAS EVE PAGEANT If your child is age 4 or older, and would like to participate in this year’s Nativity pageant at the 5:15 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass, please plan to attend practice at the church this Sunday, 20 December 2015, after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. The pageant is narrated, and therefore the children do not have speaking roles; so even the shiest can participate. All are welcome!

JUNIOR LITURGY will not be held on 27 December 2015. Junior Liturgy will resume on Sunday, 3 January 2016.

CHRISTMAS TREE PICK-UP St. Paul Catholic School Council will once again offer a Christmas tree pick-up. Trees will be picked up on 3 January 2016, and taken to the recycling depot. Please email st.paul.school.council@hotmail.com or call Dari Vecchio at 613-329-9642,with your address. Please have your tree out by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, 3 January. Your $10.00 donation will directly support the school council’s fundraising initiatives. Kindly leave your donation in your mailbox, or taped to the tree that morning.

NEW YEARS EVE VIGIL St. Joseph’s annual New Year’s Adoration Vigil will commence after the 5:15 p.m. Mass New Year’s Eve and continue until midnight. It will then resume at 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., 1 January 2016. Please take advantage of this opportunity to begin the New Year by spending an hour with the Messiah.   For information, please contact the parish office at 613-547-5004. Sign-up sheets are at the entrances to the church.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON CARD PLAYING will resume on Wednesday, 6 January 2015.

FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST COMMUNION All parents of grade two students who wish that their children celebrate the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation here at St. Joseph’s are invited to attend a Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, 19 January 2016, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s parish hall. Since this is the first planning meeting for the celebration of these Sacraments, it is particularly important that the parents of all children attend. The Enrollment Ceremony will take place on the weekend of 30-31 January 2016.
