“This is my Son, the Chosen One.  Listen to him.”

 

Introduction

 

Jesus is transfigured on Mount Tabor, an earnest of future glory.  A voice from heaven tells the disciples that Jesus is the Father’s Chosen One.

First Reading: Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18

 

God enters into a covenant with Abraham, the man of faith.

 

Second Reading: Philippians 3:17-4:1

 

Christ will transfigure our bodies into copies of his glorious body.

 

Gospel: Luke 9:28-36

 

Jesus is transfigured, and the disciples hear a voice from heaven.

AUTOMATIC DEBIT

Automatic Debit is available for those St. Joseph’s parishioners wishing to have their Sunday Offering and/or Building Fund Collection debited directly from their bank account on a monthly basis. Those who wish to begin Automatic Debit are asked to visit the parish office to complete the necessary paperwork.

 

OUR PARISH

 

STATIONS OF THE CROSS During the weeks of Lent, the Stations of the Cross will be said on Friday evenings, following the 5:15 p.m. Mass. All are warmly invited to this beautiful prayer of the Church.

 

PARTNERS IN MISSION FOOD BANK Food Bags will be collected this weekend, 16-17 March 2019.  Thank you for your continued support.

 

  1. JOSEPH YOUTH GROUP will gather on Friday, 22 March 2019, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., in the parish hall. Our meeting will include discussion of the Stations of the Cross, and decisions will be made regarding roles and responsibilities for our 8th Annual Lenten presentation. On Saturday, 23 March 2019, we will gather again from 1:00-4:00 p.m., to practice the presentation.  Pizza will be provided.  Students wishing to participate in the Lenten presentation are strongly encouraged to attend both times.  All students are welcome.  For information, contact Angela at 613-547-8116, or Alison at bogle@alcdsb.on.ca.

 

SPIRITUAL INQUIRY The next gathering will be held on Thursday, 28 March 2019, from 7:00-8:30 p.m.  The topic will be “The Freedom of Forgiveness.”  Although a core belief of our Catholic faith and promised by God to His people, extending forgiveness to others can be emotionally challenging, yet so spiritually rewarding.

 

LENTEN PENANCE CELEBRATION The Lenten Penance Celebration for St. Joseph’s will be held on Sunday, 31 March 2019, at 2:00 p.m.  Following a brief liturgy, all will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A number of visiting clergy will be present for this celebration, and all in the parish, and indeed from outside the parish, are most welcome to attend.  

With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church.

 

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place on Sunday, 31 March 2019, after the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses.  Our gracious host will be St. Paul Catholic School. Please join us for fellowship and refreshments.

 

SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL JUSTICE MEETING will take place on Wednesday, 3 April 2019, at 7:00 p.m., in the sacristy.

 

OUR COMMUNITY

 

SUNG SOLEMN VESPERS will be held for the Solemnity of St. Joseph at St. Mary’s Cathedral, on Tuesday, 19 March 2019, at 7:00 p.m.  The Cathedral Choir will lead with chanted Psalms and choral works by Gibbons and Mercier.  All are invited.  For information, contact Jeffrey Moellman, Director of Music, 613-546-5521 x 7.

 

SEPARATED AND/OR DIVORCED Are you, or someone you know, experiencing the trauma of a Separation and/or Divorce?  Come to the New Life Group Meeting,  a Catholic Ministry for the Separated and Divorced, on alternate Tuesday evenings.  The next one will take place on Tuesday, 19 March 2019, from 7:30-9:00 p.m., at the Francis J. REGIOPOLIS-NOTRE DAME CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL will distribute report cards on Monday, 18 March 2019.  Parent-Teacher interviews will take place on Thursday, 28 March, and may be booked on-line on the RND website, beginning 20 March at 8:00 a.m.

PARISH MISSION will be held on 25, 26 & 27 March, at 7:00 p.m., at St. John the Apostle Parish.  Through prayer, reflection and community, we will allow the Holy Spirit to immerse us in the Mystery of our Ever-Present God.  Preacher will be Friar Dennis Mason, OFM Conv.  Please join us.

 

NEW FAITH ON FIRE PRAYER GROUP You are warmly welcome to join upcoming events of Praise, Worship, Prayer, and Fellowship, on Tuesdays, 26 March, 2 & 9 April, from 7:30-9:00 p.m. (Following Adoration 6:00-7:30 p.m.), at St. Paul the Apostle Church.  On Thursday, 4 April, 7:00-9:00 p.m., Tom Edwards, International Lay Evangelist, will share his teaching ministry to proclaim the promise and power of the Holy Spirit, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish Centre. Free-will offering will be accepted.

 

LENTEN FISH FRY hosted by Read, Marysville & Deseronto Knights of Columbus, will take place on Friday, 5 April 2019, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Holy Name of Mary Parish Centre, 7288 Old Hwy#2, Marysville.  Adults: $15.00; Children Under 12: $7.00; Under 6: Free.  Family Price: $45.00.  All funds raised go towards charitable needs.
