Fifth Sunday of Lent
2 April 2017

“I am the resurrection and the life.”

In today’s Gospel Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. This great sign points us forward to Easter when, in the resurrection, Jesus will defeat death for all of us.

Today’s Readings

First Reading: Ezekiel 37:12-14

The Lord promises to open his people’s graves and give them his life-giving spirit.

Second Reading: Romans 8:8-11

The Spirit which raised Jesus from the dead will raise our mortal bodies too.

Gospel: John 11:1-45

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and challenges our belief in his resurrection.

ST. JOSEPH’S VISITOR PROGRAMME We have not had as much response as anticipated regarding parishioners who are now confined to their home or an institution and would appreciate a visit from our team of visitors. We are therefore extending our outreach to former parishioners who are still living in the communityl, who are perhaps living alone and would appreciate a visit in their home. Sometimes seeing a friendly face, having a nice chat or interacting in other ways makes the day pass more quickly.

If you, or someone whom you know, would appreciate having someone visit on behalf of the parish, please phone the parish office at 613-547-5004, and make arrangements for a visit. We look forward to hearing from you.

Out of 128 bottles which were distributed, 58 were returned, that means there are still 67 bottles left to be returned. If you have a baby bottle from last year, we would love to get it back so that we can use it this year, as each one costs $2.00, and we are hoping not to have to purchase many replacement bottles.
