OUR PARISH

2019 DONATIONS St. Josephs Parish Year-End occurs on 31 December; therefore, we ask that all 2019 donations be forwarded to the parish office by 31 December 2019.  Donations received after this date will need to be recorded in 2020.  If you wish to have a donation appear on your 2019 Tax Receipt, please ensure that the office has received it prior to 1 January.  Thank you.

DECEMBER BULLETINS Because Liturgical Publications are closed between 25 December – 2 January, they are requiring early submission of the bulletins in December.  Therefore, it is necessary to have the bulletin material a little earlier than usual.  We apologize if you have submitted an announcement that does not appear in the bulletin during that time.

2020 ENVELOPES are available for pick-up at the back of the church.  If you are currently not using envelopes but wish to do so, please contact the parish office at 613-547-5004 to request them, or complete the sign-up sheet on the table beside the envelopes.

SALVATION ARMY SAYS THANK YOU to all of the generous St. Joseph’s parishioners who volunteered their time to work the kettle at the Loblaws Princess Street location these past 5 weeks.  I also want to personally thank all parishioners who volunteered their time for this worthy cause.  When the message went in the bulletin urgently asking for volunteers,  the response was fantastic.  We filled all the spots that we needed to fulfill our agreement with the Salvation Army, and then some.  Thank you, have a blessed Christmas and all the best for the year ahead.  Sharon Lillis, coordinator.

MINISTRY FAIR On 18-19 January 2020, after all Masses, the Parish Engagement Group will host a Ministry Fair in the parish hall.  The various Parish Ministries will be highlighted, indicating how they each enrich the daily life of St. Joseph’s.  When you volunteer for a Ministry, you show what kind of parish you want to belong to!

PRAYER BOOK A book has been placed in a place of honour near the Blessed Sacrament.  You are invited to write in it those needs and concerns for which you would like our St. Joseph’s family / community to pray.  Wishing to respect everyone’s privacy, please keep all entries anonymous.

NEW YEARS EVE VIGIL St. Joseph’s annual New Year’s Adoration Vigil will commence after the 5:15 p.m. Mass on New Year’s Eve and continue until midnight.  It will then resume at 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., 1 January 2020.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to begin the New Year by spending an hour with the Messiah.  For information, contact the parish office at 613-547-5004.  Sign-up sheets are available at the entrances.

CHRISTMAS TREE PICK-UP  St. Paul Catholic School Council will once again offer a Christmas Tree pickup fundraiser in Kingston.  Trees will be picked up on Saturday, 4 January 2020,  and taken to the recycling depot. Your $15.00 donation will directly support the School Council’s fund-raising initiatives, which includes playground renewal projects.  Kindly leave your donation in your mailbox, in an envelope marked St. Paul’s, or taped to your door before 10:00 a.m. that morning.  Please  call Dari at 613‑329‑9642, or email st.paul.school.council@gmail.com, to leave your name and your address to schedule a pick-up.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the St. Paul Catholic School Council.

URGENT CALL – PROVIDENCE CARE HOSPITAL SITE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Providence Care needs volunteers from parishes in the Archdiocese of Kingston to help the Roman Catholic patients and clients attend Sunday Mass held at 2:00 p.m.  Responsibilities include pushing wheelchairs and walking alongside persons who require assistance/supervision.  If you feel God is calling you to this ministry, please contact, Chris O’Connor, Volunteer Coordinator for Inpatient Activities & Youth Volunteer Programs, at 613-544-4900 x 53058, or  oconnorc@providencecare.ca, or register though https://www.providencecare.ca.
