Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
19 February 2017

“Be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am holy.”

Introduction

We are called to be holy, just as God is holy. We are to love one another, not just those who are close to us but those from afar and those we might even consider to be enemies.

Today’s Readings

First Reading: Leviticus 19:1-2, 17-18

We are to be holy as God is holy.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:16-23

The Spirit of God lives among us, for we are God’s temple.

Gospel: Matthew 5:38-48

We are to be perfect just as our heavenly Father is perfect.

OUR PARISH

FINANCIAL REPORT TO ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH – 2016 Finance Committee Member, Eric Bennett, will present the “Financial Report for St. Joseph’s – 2016,” this weekend, 18-19 February 2017. You will find a copy of the 2016 Financial Report in the bulletin. If you would like a printed copy of the “Financial Report for St. Joseph’s – 2016,” please leave your name and telephone number or email on the sign-up sheets at one of the entrances, and one will be made available to you.

ST. JOSEPH’S VISITOR PROGRAMME A number of parishioners of St. Joseph’s may find it increasingly difficult to get out much, particularly in these winter months. Even getting to church may be a challenge, and yet you would like to keep contact with your parish. You may be living in your own home, a seniors’ residence or a nursing home.

If you, or someone whom you know, would appreciate having someone visit on behalf of the parish, please phone the parish office at 613-547-5004, and make arrangements for a visit. We look forward to hearing from you.

YOUTH GROUP The St. Joseph’s Parish Youth Group’s next get-together will take place on Friday, 24 February 2017, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., in the parish hall. This meeting will include the first practice of the Stations of the Cross pageant; so students desiring to be involved in the Stations presentation are strongly encouraged to attend. All students are welcome. For further information, contact Alison Bogle at bogle@alcdsb.on.ca or Angela Lorbetskie at 613-547-8116.

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY will take place on Sunday, 26 February 2017, after the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Masses. If you are willing to bring squares, cookies or loaves for this event, please sign up on the sheets provided at the church entrances.
