Our world is marked by so much suffering.  Christ comes to give us hope through the power of his healing touch.

Automatic Debit is available for those St. Joseph’s parishioners wishing to have their Sunday Offering and/or Building Fund Collection debited directly from their bank account on a monthly basis. Those who wish to begin Automatic Debit are asked to visit the parish office to complete the necessary paperwork.




CATHOLIC MISSIONS IN CANADA COLLECTION  A special Diocesan collection for Catholic Missions in Canada will be taken up this weekend, 3-4 February 2018.   This collection will be forwarded to the Archdiocese no later than 5 March 2018; please ensure that you have made your donation by this date.


CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE If you wish to become a member or to renew your membership, please place your $20.00 fee in an envelope and write your name, address, telephone number and “CWL” on the envelope, and drop in the collection basket by 4 February 2018.  The Executive will meet on Monday, 5 February 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall.  The General Meeting will take place on Monday, 12 February 2018, at 7:00 p.m.  This will include the Installation of the new Executive and the welcoming of our new members.  We will also be collecting socks and toiletries for St. Vincent de Paul: toothpaste & toothbrushes; shampoo & conditioner; non-alcoholic mouthwash; nail care items; hairbrushes; moisturizing lotion; lip balm; dental floss, etc.


SPIRITUAL INQUIRY The next session of the Spiritual Inquiry will be held on Wednesday, 7 February 2018, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., in the parish hall.  As in the past, it is an excellent opportunity to discuss our Catholic Faith, religious practices and spiritual belief.  With no prescribed agenda, topics have been quite varied and thought-provoking in past sessions.  In a relaxed, accepting environment, participants have the opportunity to express their thoughts, raise questions or simply listen to the responses of others in attendance.  Coffee/tea will be offered.


BUILDING FUND  The monthly collection of the Building Fund will take place next weekend, 10-11 February 2018.  Your support continues to make a difference, especially this year as we proceed to put a new roof on the church.  Thank you.


SACRAMENTS OF FIRST RECONCILIATION &  FIRST COMMUNION All parents of grade two students who wish that their children celebrate the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation here at St. Joseph’s are invited to attend a Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, 20 February 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s parish hall.  Since this is the first planning meeting for the celebration of these Sacraments, it is particularly important that the parents of all children attend.  The Enrollment Ceremony will take place on 7-8 April 2018.


HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place on Sunday, 25 February 2018, after the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses.  If you are able to provide snacks, please sign up at the entrances.  Please join us in the parish hall for fellowship and refreshments.


LENTEN PENANCE CELEBRATION The Lenten Penance Celebration for St. Joseph’s will be held on Sunday, 11 March 2018, at 2:00 p.m.  Following a brief liturgy, all will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A number of visiting clergy will be present for this celebration, and all in the parish, and indeed from outside the parish, are most welcome to attend.  

With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church.


CALL FOR CONSCIENCE CAMPAIGN 2018 The Bishops of Ontario, in conjunction with the Coalition for Healthcare & Conscience, are looking for 100,000 e-mail addresses as part of a campaign to encourage our elected Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) and those seeking office this June to increase funding for palliative care, to protect doctors and healthcare professionals who do not want to be involved in Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID), and to protect faith-based healthcare facilities from participating in MAID.  To join this campaign, visit the Archdiocese of Kingston website, and click on ‘Call for Conscience Campaign 2018,’ where you enter your name, e-mail address, and postal code, to identify you riding.  Another way to participate in this campaign is to send a letter by regular mail to your MPP.  A sample letter will be provided to parishes in April.
