Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

31 January 2016

No prophet is ever accepted in his own country.

Introduction

Jesus is not afraid to upset his listeners in the cause of what is true and right. Our own courage to do the same comes to us only through his grace and support.

Todays Readings

First Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-5, 17-19

The Lord gives us the strength to carry out our calling to follow him.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13

The greatest of God’s gifts is love.

Gospel: Luke 4:21-30

Jesus enrages his audience by telling them his mission is not restricted to them.
