Epiphany of the Lord

5 January 2020

All nations shall serve him.

Today we celebrate the revealing of God’s plan to the Gentile nations: the magi represent those non-Jewish peoples who accept the Gospel of Jesus, and with the magi we can give thanks that we have been included in the offer of the Good News.

Todays Readings

First Reading: Isaiah 60:1-6

The light of the Lord’s glory shines out and draws people from all over the world: they come to worship and to praise the Lord.

Second Reading: Ephesians 3:2-3, 5-6

The writer tells how the non-Jewish nations now share in the same inheritance and promise as the chosen people, through Christ Jesus..

Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12

The magi, who represent the Gentile nations, come to Jerusalem as they search for the recently born king of the Jews; they are sent on to Bethlehem, the city of King David.

2019 DONATIONS St. Josephs Parish Year-End occurred on 31 December; therefore, donations received after this date must be recorded in 2020.  Thank you.

CHRISTMAS BASKETS Thanks to St. Joseph’s generous parishioners, we were able to assist 50 families in need this past Christmas.  With copious amounts of food and monetary donations, fifty families had a Christmas they might otherwise have missed.  We even had a bit of food left over after filling the baskets very full, permitting us to donate to St. Vincent de Paul and the Food Bank.  Thank you again for your continued generosity.
