Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

14 July 2019

“Jesus said to him, ‘Go, and do the same yourself.’”

Today we hear the parable of the good Samaritan; from the earliest times Jesus has been recognised as the supreme good Samaritan.

Todays Readings

First Reading: Deuteronomy 30:10-14

Moses reminds the people that the Lord has revealed his law, so that God’s word is very close to us.

Second Reading: Colossians 1:15-20

Jesus is “first-born of all creation”; all else is in him, through him and for him.  Peace has come through the shedding of his blood.

Gospel: Luke 10:25-37

In the parable of the good Samaritan, Jesus teaches us that our neighbour is whoever stands in need of our help.
