Why is prayer so important?  Today, Jesus teaches us how to pray and reminds us of the Father to whom we pray.

Automatic Debit is available for those St. Joseph’s parishioners wishing to have their Sunday Offering and/or Building Fund Collection debited directly from their bank account on a monthly basis. Those who wish to begin Automatic Debit are asked to visit the parish office to complete the necessary paperwork.




FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION On Friday, 2 August 2019, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will commence at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m.  You are encouraged to spend an hour with the Lord.


CHILDRENS FOLK CHOIR Children who are interested in participating in the Children’s Folk Choir are invited to sing at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, 18 August 2019.  We will have one practice from noon-1:00 p.m. on Sunday, 11 August 2019, at the church.  For further inquiries, please contact Sheila Fowler at


PARTNERS IN MISSION FOOD BANK wishes to thank the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Parish for your contribution of 246 bags of food and $1800.00 in monetary donations, made between 1 April-30 June 2019.  At this time, a ‘Most Needed Items’ list can be found on their website at  The top items needed are canned meat and fish, peanut butter and canned tomatoes or stew.  A total of 13,049 hampers were distributed to low-income families and individuals throughout Kingston in 2018, and all indications point to an increase in the year ahead.  Thank you again for your continued support.


LOST AND FOUND We have collected a number of items throughout the church over the past months: keys, bus passes, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, debit cards, hair clips, rosaries, hearing aid cleaning kit, clothing, etc.  If you have lost any of these items, please visit, or call, the parish office, to identify your valuables.  We wish to return them to their rightful owners.


JUNIOR LITURGY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are in need of volunteers for the 2019-2020 school year and invite anyone wishing to assist to call the parish office at 613-547-5004.  We particularly need volunteers 18+ to assist with the 11:00 a.m. Masses.  If any parents of children attending Junior Liturgy, or other parishioners, wish to help out, please let us know, so that we can continue this Sunday service.  You will be trained and will always have another volunteer with you.

SEMINARIAN CELEBRATION On Sunday, 11 August 2019, at 3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Kingston, the Knights of Columbus will host their annual Seminarian Celebration.  All are welcome! The Archdiocesan Vocations Office and our Seminarians have prepared a presentation which includes vocation stories, greetings from our Archbishop, audio-visual presentations, prayer and song.  During the presentation, children 4-16 years of age are welcome to participate in youth programming.  An optional dinner buffet will take place following the presentation.  Tickets are $18.00, Adult; $10.00, Children 6-10; Free for children under five.  Please reserve tickets by 2 August, by contacting Pete Scott at
