18th Sunday in Ordinary Time
31 July 2016
“Be on your guard against avarice of any kind.”
Life means more than food and the body more than clothing. True wealth and true life are found when we share God’s gifts.
First Reading: Ecclesiastes 1:2, 2:21-23
Life’s struggles are often felt to be in vain.
Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-5, 9-11
Heavenly life calls for a heavenly attitude.
Gospel: Luke 12:13-21
Wealth, selfishly desired, only leads to woe.
