Introduction

 

Today we celebrate a birthday, that of John the Baptist.  The gift he gives us is to reveal how we can come closer to Christ.

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place this Sunday, 24 June 2018, after the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses.  If you are able to provide snacks, please sign up at the entrances.  Please join us in the parish hall for fellowship and refreshments.

 

JUNIOR LITURGY The last day for Junior Liturgy before the summer break will be this Sunday, 24 June 2018.  We are in need of volunteers for the 2018-2019 school year and invite anyone wishing to assist to call the parish office at 613-547-5004.  We particularly need volunteers 18+ to assist with the 11:00 a.m. Masses.  If any parents of children attending Junior Liturgy, or other parishioners, wish to help out, please let us know, so that we can continue this Sunday service.  You will be trained and will always have another volunteer with you.

 

BUILDING FUND  The monthly collection of the Building Fund will take place on the weekend of 7-8 July 2018.  Your support continues to make a difference, especially this year as we proceed to put a new roof on the church.  Thank you.

CHOIR FROM FRANCE VISITS ST. MARYS CATHEDRAL  Les Petits Chanteurs de Bordeaux, France, a 55-voice choir of boys, ages 7-20, is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a tour to grand venues in Québec and Ontario.  There are two opportunities to hear the choir: during the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, 15 July 2018, or at a family-friendly concert at 2:30 p.m.  A free-will offering will be taken at the concert to benefit the choir and St. Mary’s Cathedral.  CDs will be available for purchase following the concert.  For more information, visit www.StMarysCathedral.ca or contact Jeffrey Moellman, Director of Music, at musicmoell@gmail.com, or at 613-546-5521, ext. 7.

PILGRIMAGE TO QUEBEC Holy Family Parish is making this pilgrimage on 25-27 August 2018.  It will include a visit to Saint Anne de Beaupré, the Cathedral of Notre Dame du Cap, Notre Dame des Victoires in Old Quebec and the shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha.  Estimated cost is $250-$300 per person, double occupancy, including transportation, hotel and breakfast.  Call Marie at 613-539-2348 for information.

WORKSHOP REDISCOVERING THE ART OF DYING with presenter Sister Nuala Kenny.  Doctor Nuala Kenny is a physician, ethicist, and former Nova Scotia Deputy Minister of Health.  She is an expert in palliative and end-of-life care.  The workshop will take place on Saturday, 13 October 2018, from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 490 Days Road.  Registration is $10.00 (lunch included).  More details will follow; please save the date.
