Today we hear how in his compassion Jesus brought a young man back to life. The same Jesus, with the same limitless compassion, meets us at Mass.

YEAR OF MERCY VOLUNTEER POSITIONS In this Year of Mercy, St. Joseph’s Parish will be showcasing a variety of volunteer possibilities.

RIDEAUCREST HOME – Volunteers(13+ years) are needed for various services. Volunteer packages are available at the front desk. Located at 175 Rideau Street, the city’s long-term care facility volunteer program augments the services of the staff, to provide enhanced quality of life for its residents. Shifts are usually 3.5 hours, working in pairs. Contact Sheila Thompson at 613-530-2818×4225, or, for information.

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE The last Executive Meeting before summer is on Monday, 6 June 2016, at 7:00 p.m., in the parish hall.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS REGULAR JUNE MEETING will be proceeded by a Social BBQ for members, to be held on Tuesday, 7 June 2016, starting at 6:00 p.m. Hot dogs, drinks and dessert are supplied. If you wish to bring your own special BBQ dog/sausage, please do so. Regular meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. (No Executive Meeting).

BUILDING FUND The monthly collection of the Building Fund will take place next weekend, 11-12 June 2016. Your support continues to make a difference. Thank you.

COINS FOR LIFE On 11-12 June 2016, containers will be available for you to take home after all Masses. Please fill them over the summer and return on 17-18 September 2016. SPIRITUAL INQUIRY The final “Spiritual Inquiry” gathering before the summer will be held on Thursday, 16 June 2016, from 7:00-8:30 p.m., in the parish hall. People attending may put forth questions regarding religion, faith or spirituality, share responses to questions/comments raised by others, or simply listen. Previous gatherings over the years have been insightful, inspiring and quite satisfying. Join us in this unstructured and informal evening of casual reflection. Tea and decaf coffee will be offered.

LEGION OF MARY PRAYER REQUEST CARD If you have any prayer requests or needs, please let us know and let us pray for you by filling out a Prayer Request Card, found at each of the entrances, and placing it in the box indicated in the St. Joseph’s Room. Submit as many prayer requests as you wish!

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place on Sunday, 26 June 2016, after the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Masses, and will be hosted by the Catholic Women’s League. If you are willing to bring squares, cookies or loaves to these Hospitality Sundays, please sign up on the sheets provided at the church entrances.


ST. EDWARD & ST. COLUMBANUS MISSION with Fr. Dan Cambra, MIC, takes place from 5-8 June 2016. Several parishes in the Archdiocese have scheduled Fr. Cambra for parish missions. He is a member of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception who are in charge of the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He is a gifted preacher who has presented missions in a multitude of parishes. The mission begins on 5 June, with Fr. Cambra preaching at all parish Masses, and continues with evening mission gatherings Sunday-Wednesday, starting at 6:30 p.m. (5-6 June at St. Edward, 7-8 June at St. Columbanus). Book this into your schedules. Invite your family and friends. A great opportunity for the faith renewal in the Year of Mercy!!! There will also be opportunities for confession.
