Pentecost Sunday

9 June 2019

“He who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your own mortal bodies through his Spirit living in you.”

Introduction

Pentecost Sunday, Whit Sunday, is traditionally known as the birthday of the Church, a very happy birthday to you all.

Todays Readings

First Reading: Acts 1:1-11

The Apostles are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Second Reading: Romans 8:8-17

Moved by the Spirit, we become children of God and heirs as well.  We can even be familiar with God, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

Gospel: John 14:15-16, 23-26

At the Last Supper Jesus promises the gift of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will teach us everything.
