OUR PARISH

MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE FROM ARCHBISHOP OBRIEN I want to express my sincere appreciation for the prayers, best wishes, and cards which I received during my convalescence from the injuries I sustained in a fall several weeks ago. Your prayers and support have been a great help in my healing. I hope to return to my regular duties this week. Sincerely in Christ,

+ Brendon M. O’Brien, Archbishop of Kingston.

PARISH LENTEN PENANCE CELEBRATION “The Sacrament of Penance is an experience of the gift of God’s boundless mercy. Not only does it free us from our sins, it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us. In confession, we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in His presence and honestly acknowledge our sins. With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church.” – From the US Catholic Catechism for Adults. Take time to join the parish in the Celebration this Sunday, 6 March 2016, at 2:00 p.m.

KEEP VALUABLES SAFE Please ensure that you keep your valuables with you at all times. In order to keep your possessions safe, we suggest that they not be left alone at any time.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS During the weeks of Lent, the Stations of the Cross will be said on Friday evenings, following the 5:15 p.m. Mass. All are warmly welcomed to this beautiful prayer of the Church.

BUILDING FUND The monthly collection of the Building Fund will take place this weekend, 5-6 March 2016. Your support continues to make a difference. Thank you.

MUSICAL AFTERNOON On Thursday, 10 March 2016, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., the Social Committee of the St. Joseph’s Pastoral Council will provide an afternoon of musical entertainment, featuring Chris Murphy, Jon McLurg and Brian Flynn, for those who are Irish and for those who “wish they were.” Please join us in the church for an opportunity to enjoy local musicians. Light refreshments will be. Come and bring a friend or two! A free-will monetary offering would be appreciated.

YOUTH GROUP PRACTICES The Youth Group will be practising for the annual presentation of the Stations of the Cross on Sunday 20 March 2016, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The 5th Annual presentation will take place on Monday, 21 March 2016, at 7:00 p.m., in the church. All parishioners are invited to pray the Stations with us by participating in a dramatic presentation, followed by refreshments in the hall. For information, please contact Alison Bogle at 613-536-5771, or Angela Lorbetski at 613-547-8116.

SHARE LENT PILGRIMAGE – HELPING SISTERS SERVE THEIR PEOPLE IN BETHLEHEM Now our pilgrimage takes us to the Holy Land. Development and Peace is supporting Salesian Sisters in the Cremisan Valley in Bethlehem in their struggle to remain close to their people. Their ability to provide schooling to over 450 children has been threatened by the construction of a separation wall which will cut them off from the people they serve. Your support helps to provide them with crucial legal support to fight the construction in the courts. Next Sunday is Solidarity Sunday, and the Share Lent/Development & Peace collection. Please be generous.

NEWS FROM THE CATHOLIC WOMENS LEAGUE The Executive Meeting is on Monday, 7 March, at 7:00 p.m. The General Meeting is on Monday, 14 March, BUT at 6:30 p.m. due to the length of our speaker’s topic: Fall Prevention Starts with You.” Our speakers, Marilyn Wilson & Margaret Coglin, are from KFL&A Health Unit. All female parishioners 16+ years are welcome to join and get some good tips.

Our SPRING BAKE SALE is on 12-13 March 2016, after each Mass, in the parish hall. We will be offering cakes, pies, cookies, bars, squares, brownies, fudge, etc., plus savoury items such as soup and biscuits. Come check us out!
