FLORES DE MAYO The Filipino Canadian Community is celebrating the 12th year of Flores de Mayo, in honour of our Blessed Mother, Mary, this Sunday, 21 May 2017, here at St. Joseph’s, beginning with the Rosary at 3:00 p.m., followed by Mass at 3:30 p.m., and the Blessing of the Blessed Virgin Mary statue. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Lynch is presiding. All are welcome. Reception in the parish hall after Mass.

SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL JUSTICE GROUP MEETING will be held on the 4th Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m. The next meeting will take place on Friday, 26 May 2017. Please join us in the parish hall.

HOSPITALITY SUNDAY The next Hospitality Sunday will take place on Sunday, 28 May 2017, after the 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Masses. The gracious hosts will be the staff and students of St. Thomas More Catholic School. Please join us in the parish hall for fellowship and refreshments.

POPE’S PASTORAL WORKS COLLECTION A special Diocesan collection for the Pope’s Pastoral Works will be taken up this weekend, 20-21 May 2017. This collection will be forwarded to the Archdiocese no later than 16 June 2017. Thank you for your generosity.

NEWS FROM THE CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE The organizers of the Fancy Hat Tea Party would like to thank all those hardworking souls who helped make it such a success this year. Without all of our volunteers, such events are impossible. We almost sold out and everyone had a wonderful time! Special heartfelt thanks to Pam for being responsible for tickets sales, and to those who cleaned up afterwards. so appreciated. Our winners had amazing hats again this year, and we applaud their imagination and creativity! See y’all next year…

CWL CONVENTION 2017 – RAFFLE WINNERS The 95th Annual Kingston Diocesan Convention of the CWL of Canada was held on 6-7 May 2017. The host Council, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, wishes to thank all members and guests who made the weekend so successful. SCHOOL RETIREMENT CELEBRATIONS The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is looking forward to the opening of Kingston’s newest Catholic elementary school in the fall of 2017. St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School will consolidate the school communities of Holy Family, St. Patrick and St. Peter Catholic Schools. To celebrate and recognize past and current staff and students, each of these schools will host a school retirement celebration after the regularly scheduled 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The celebrations will begin at the schools at approximately 1:00 p.m., at St. Patrick School on 28 May; at St. Peter School, on 4 June; and at Holy Family School, on 11 June.
