The Ascension of the Lord
28 May 2017
“Father, the hour has come.”
In today’s Gospel, we listen as Jesus converses with God the Father; and the more he speaks, the more we hear that we are the subject of this great conversation.
First Reading: Acts 1:12-14
As Jesus went up to heaven, the disciples and Mary devoted themselves to prayer.
Second Reading: 1 Peter 4:13-16
If you are insulted for bearing the name of Christ, blessed are you.
Gospel: John 17:1-11
The Lord prays in an intimate way now that he sees his hour has come. The end is in sight, and glory is to be given.
