Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

10 November 2019

Children of the resurrection.

The end of the Church’s liturgical year is in sight, and we are being invited to think about the ultimate reality of what lies beyond and where our lives are leading.

Todays Readings

First Reading: 2 Maccabees 7:1-2, 9-14

No threats will dissuade the seven brothers and their mother from staying faithful to the God in whom they put their trust.

Second Reading:  2 Thessalonians 2:16-3:5

Paul prays for himself and his early converts that the Lord will strengthen and protect them.

Gospel: Luke 20:27-38

Jesus refuses to be trapped by the specious arguments of the Sadducees but stresses the truth of the resurrection that awaits the children of God.

Those who wish to begin Automatic Debit are asked to visit the parish office to complete the necessary paperwork.

PARISH VISITOR PROGRAM St. Joseph’s Parish Council is exploring the possibility of establishing a Parish Visitor program.  It would be the purpose of this undertaking to provide a stronger link with the Parish for those who might be confined to their homes or places of greater care, especially as the winter season approaches.  Parish visitors would be comprised of teams of two people, with each person being appropriately trained and screened.  If you would like to learn more about being a Parish Visitor, you are asked to contact the Parish Office at 613-547-5004.  Similarly, if you would like to receive a Parish Visitor team in your home, please contact the Parish Office at 613-547-5004.  Thank you.

PRIESTS RETIREMENT FUND supports the Archdiocesan program which provides elderly and infirm priests with the financial support they have earned after many years of service.  The Fund currently provides monthly pensions and health benefits for our retired priests.  We thank you for the generosity you have shown in the past, and we hope that you will generously support this year’s collection to be held this weekend, 9-10 November 2019.

FOOD BAGS will be distributed this weekend 9-10 November 2019, for drop-off next weekend, 16-17 November.  Food from this collection will go towards the Christmas food hampers that volunteers from St. Joseph’s put together for fifty families in need.  Thank you for your generosity.
