Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

24 November 2019

If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.

As we com to this last Sunday of the Church’s year, we celebrate the universal kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who reigns in the hearts of all who place their trust in him.

Todays Readings

First Reading: 2 Samuel 5:1-3

The Israelites anoint David as their king and shepherd.  He had led them to victory; he was their own flesh and blood; more importantly, God had chosen him.

Second Reading: Colossians 1:12-20

Jesus was first-born of creation and first-born from the dead.  Through him and for him all things were created and reconciled; in him all things come to unity and perfection.

Gospel: Luke 23:35-43

The crucified Jesus would not save himself, he saved, instead, the criminal at his side who made confession of his sins.  Jesus assured him of a place in his heavenly kingdom.

CHRISTMAS EVE PAGEANT We are looking for children to fill various roles in the Christmas Eve Pageant and Christmas Eve Children’s Choir.  If your child is age 4 or older, and would like to participate in this year’s Nativity pageant at the 5:15 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass, please plan to attend upcoming practices at the church.  The pageant is narrated, and therefore the children do not have speaking roles; so even the shiest can participate.  Older students are encouraged to take part, as we always need readers for Narrator, Lector and Prayer of the Faithful.  All are welcome! Children, grade 3 and up, are also invited to rehearse for the Children’s Choir on Christmas Eve.  There will be three rehearsals for the pageant and choir on Sunday, 8, 15 and 22 December, from noon until 1:00 p.m. (immediately following the 11:00 a.m. Mass), for both the pageant and the choir in the church.  For information, contact
