Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

23 September 2018

“If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself last of all and servant of all.”

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  He shows us that to follow him is to submit to each other in humility.

Todays Readings

Jesus is foreshadowed as the one who will challenge the godless with his virtue.

Second Reading: James 3:16-4:3

Proper prayer will unshackle us from our base desires, allowing us to grow in holiness as peacemakers.

PARENT INFORMATION MEETING for the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Monday, 24 September 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the parish hall.  If you have a child in grade 8 who wishes to receive this Sacrament, please make arrangements to attend the meeting.

COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CHURCH IN CANADA An invitation to support the faith and evangelization mission of the Church!  The Bishops of Canada gather in four Regional Assemblies (Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario and the West), as well as in their national Conference. The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is mandated by the Holy See and the Bishops who are its members in a number of areas of pastoral life and evangelization: faith formation and catechesis, doctrinal questions, ecumenical initiatives, international relations, interreligious conversations, liturgical resources, relations with Indigenous Peoples, social justice questions, and building a culture of life and family. The CCCB is the national assembly of the Catholic Bishops in Canada, and includes the Bishops (Eparchs) of the Eastern Catholic Churches, as well. Thank you in advance for your generous contribution for ensuring the success of the collection and the ongoing work of evangelization.  The annual Collection, which will be held next weekend, 29-30 September 2018, allows each diocese to meet its financial obligations to the regional episcopal assemblies and to the national episcopal Conference. Through your contribution, you too can collaborate with the Bishops in their ministry to teach, sanctify and govern.  Thank you.
