Jesus the Living Bread

Jesus the Living Bread

Today, as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ—Corpus Christi—we do so with particular gratitude and reverence, because it also marks the culmination of our parish’s Eucharistic Revival Year. On this feast, we celebrate the great mystery at the heart of our Catholic faith—the real and abiding presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Throughout this past year, we’ve sought to renew our faith, reverence, and love for Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist. Corpus Christi, is not just about what we receive at Mass—it’s about who we receive.

In the Eucharist, God draws near to us in the most intimate way possible. He becomes our food, our strength, and our life. This is the same Jesus who walked the dusty roads of Galilee, who healed the sick, forgave sinners, and offered His life on the Cross. That same Jesus now humbles Himself to come to us under the simple appearance of bread and wine.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven,” Jesus tells us. “Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6:51)

This is not poetry—it is promise. A promise of God’s closeness, His mercy, and eternal life.

On this Corpus Christi Sunday, let us renew our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Let us receive Him with reverence, love, and a heart open to change.

And let us become what we receive—living tabernacles of Christ’s love in the world.
