Strive to Enter through the Narrow Gate
When someone asked Jesus, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” He did not give numbers but said, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate.” The narrow gate is Christ Himself – He is the way to eternal life. To enter, we must not only know about Him but live in a true relationship with Him, allowing His word to transform our lives.
Salvation is open to all people – east and west, north and south – but it is not automatic. It requires faith, repentance, and daily effort. To “strive” means to struggle like an athlete, making real choices for God even when difficult resisting sin, forgiving others, and standing for the truth.
The Lord warns that not everyone who says, “We know You” will enter. Familiarity with Jesus is not enough; what matters is a life of discipleship and love. The narrow gate may seem demanding, but it leads to joy – the banquet of God’s kingdom.
Let us therefore not presume or delay, but strive each day to walk with Christ, the only gate that leads to life.
Amen.
