The Gift of Peace

The Gift of Peace
As we approach the great feast of Pentecost, the Church gives us a profound reminder today of Jesus’ farewell words to His disciples. He speaks of love, obedience, the coming of the Holy Spirit, and most importantly, of peace.
Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” Not the kind of peace the world gives—fragile, fleeting, dependent on circumstances—but the deep, lasting peace that comes from communion with God. It is a peace that remains even in times of suffering, uncertainty, or persecution.
For many of us, peace can seem elusive. Our hearts are often troubled—by global conflict, by family struggles, or by personal anxieties. Yet, Christ assures us that His peace is different. It’s the peace that comes from knowing that we are loved, saved, and never alone.
Jesus also makes a remarkable promise: “We will come to him and make our home with him.” When we love Christ and keep His word, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit come to dwell within us. This is not just poetic language—it is the real presence of God in the life of every believer, especially through the sacraments.
